To all members:
It is with regret I have to advise members of the recent tragic loss of Bruce the clubs Chairman's 24 year old son Ian following a fatal car accident (not his fault) near their home in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. On behalf of the clubs officers and membership I trust you will join me in offering Bruce and his family our sincere condolences and thoughts at what must be an extremely difficult time.
Ian was not a member of the fishing club but knowing of his dads love of fishing and club he continues to actively support I would have expected him to become a member at sometime in the near future. Ian's love like many other lads of his age was anything to do with cars that he pursued as an active member of a Peugeot Car Club who I am advised completely rebuilt his car that accompanied the funeral procession. The club membership including his close friends took time out to travel the 300 mile round trip to Manchester for the service in considerable numbers to show their respect for someone who was obviously highly thought of.
They say time is a great healer and it might be but I would like to think given the opportunity you all will at every opportunity let Bruce know he has your support.
It is with great sadness that i have to inform the membership of the passing of Margaret Harrison our secretary's wife. Margaret and Stan had been married for forty six years and were deeply devoted to each other. In the early days of our club Margaret accompanied Stan on many matches as she also liked to fish and if my memory serves me well won the Ladies championship on more than one occasion. I'm sure the membership will join me in passing on our condolences. I would further ask that the membership refrain from contacting Stan at this time with matters attaining to the running of the club.
Thank you: Bruce Wemyss Chairman South Manchester Angling Club
